Rhett Miller and the Serial Lady Killers

Brenda and I went to this concert the other day. It was amazing. He played at Webster Hall (one of my favorite venues in the city) We started out in prob about the 8th row and then worked our way to the second row by the end of the night. He played one of my favorites "Question." It was Amazing!

a very heartfelt goodbye

Today I read this article on NPR.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112312561

It is funny because I had the same reaction to it that many of my co-workers did.

1. "Wait, reading rainbow is still on the air? I thought it went off the air when I went into high school."
2. "Oh I am so sad about this. I loved that show."

This news really put me into a very nostalgic moment. I have not seen this for years and years but can still vividly remember episodes. Some of my favorites:

LeVar tells us about being an actor and takes us to the set of star trek
We visit an artist that makes Russian Easter eggs
we visit and artist that makes pots in Hawaii and glazes them
We go to a Renaissance festival
and one of my favorites was on stop motion animation

I use to make up book reviews with my friends like we were the kids on the show and we would try to come up with something witty to say like when I reviewed If You Give A Mouse A Cookie "I am telling you this book is worth giving a cookie for"

Such an end to an era. I love you LeVar! I'll see you next time :)

NYC on a Friday Night!

The other day a co-worker mentioned to me that they show free movie on the flight deck of the Intrepid docked in the river. The other Friday I went with a group of friends to watch Jaws ( a movie by the way that gave me years of nightmares as a child... I was even afraid of pools, convinced the floor would fall out and a great white would appear) It was such a great NY experience. There was a great breeze off the water and it started to rain a bit, but that didn't stop us. Everyone just pulled out their umbrellas and sat tight! That is until the lightning started and they had to shew us all off the deck for safety reasons. But even with that and getting completely drenched it was one of the best nights. I am hoping to go to the next movie this summer.

Back to my roots... literally

This summer I made a huge decision. To go back to my "semi" original hair color. My hair changed color over the years naturally depending on how much I was in the sun and I am sure many other scientific things I do not understand. But from the time I was 16 on I was a red head from a bottle. And the last few years in NYC I gradually became darker and darker... even dark brown/black occasionally. This year I let my roots grow a bit to discover that my strawberry blond had become an ashy grey blond :( not a good look for me. So with a little stylist aid and several hours (11 hours and 3 hair appointments) I am back to a much more natural strawberry blond. I still love my dark auburn hair so am not sure how long this will last, but for now it is a fun change. I still don't quite recognize myself when I look in the mirror.....

These are just quick shots from the camera on my computer. I will try to get some better shots soon.
