Juicing

I spent the weekend doing some juicing. (Kind of a quick hit of nutrients and a whole lot of other good stuff ;)  Some juices were better than others.  I am a huge fan of fruit juices, but decided to focus on vegetable this weekend.  Here are two that I tried that were pretty tasty.  (I think the photos though were my favorite part of the whole process).

 Breakfast Zinger
3-4 medium carrots
1 small beet
1/2 cucumber
1/2 small lemon (peeled)
1 inch piece of fresh ginger-root
1/2 half a green apple

Southwestern Cocktail
1 medium vine ripened tomato
1/2 medium cucumber
1/4 cup cilantro
1/4 small lime peeled
dash of hot sauce

a photo break

...because it seems like the only time I post these days is when I get away from the city... and because I know you are not even kind of tired of seeing pictures from bucolic WI... and because I have to start posting again at some point!

Just back from the fall press run.  It was a bit rough, early mornings and late nights, but I did manage to get two nice afternoon runs in!  (sadly they closed the pool at the hotel for cleaning.... lame, who does that in June?!)

Enjoy - and hope to start posting images more regularly so you all can get some glimpses into my world again soon.  Love you all!

B & W?

 or color?

 Don't eat the berries...

I got caught in the rain at the end of my run.

Space to breath and think... so so very much space... sigh....

Best find of the trip!  A secret swimming hole with a waterfall.... I was two seconds from going for a dip... when some high school skinny-dippers kind of put the end to that plan... maybe next trip ;)

Utah Lake

I am just feeling a bit nostalgic right now. I spent some time looking through my archives of photos from school and my time in the BYU photo program. I had completely forgotten about the photographs from the night I became a "real" photographer.

I went to Utah lake to photograph the sunset. These are the photos that came out of that trip. The last photo here was taken with my back to Utah Lake looking at the mountains right as the sun disappeared. The only problem was that to get the angle I wanted I had put one leg of the tripod in the lake and the other (shorter) was on some broken concrete slabs that were used to keep erosion on the side of the lake in check. And of course, right after I took this photo the camera started to tip towards the lake. I swung at it with my hand to hit it towards the shore. This caused the camera to fall the other direction and land on my camera bag. However, the momentum that I swung at the camera caused me to loose my balance and fall the other way into the lake! It was FREEZING!

When I told this story in my class after the critique my professor sat silently for a minute then said very seriously, "Well Gaby, I think you should know this makes you a real photographer." Then he proceeded to laugh for 20 minutes at me... lol... and pretty much started snickering every time he looked at me for the next week...

Apple Picking

This is what happens when you go with some friends to New Hampshire for the weekend.. and it takes you a long time to get there so you are really tired and everything seems really funny the next day...

We went to an orchard to go apple picking, and we came across this ladder laying down. I am not really sure who suggested it first, but I do recall the statement being made. "Hey that looks like something that would happen to Gaby apple picking. Gaby go act like you fell with that ladder."

And for some reason this was really logical to me.. and so I did it.. lol There are so many gems about this video. It is kind of hard to hear at the begging of the video but I realize how ridiculous I am and start laughing and then realize people are coming and I should be embarrassed.. so I say "No. We're done." Also notice how I hurt my foot getting up from the fake fall... Weeks later this still just brightens my day :)
